Over 1,000 people were in attendance at the 2005 Whiskies of the World Event in San Francisco, the site of the formal introduction of Templeton Rye Whiskey.
The Whiskies of the World Event is one of the most highly anticipated and respected events in the industry and features hundreds of superior Single Malt Whiskies, handcrafted Boutique Bourbons, Irish Whiskeys and World Wide Whiskeys for the nosing and sampling pleasure of whisky enthusiasts and press. There are also various educational talks and tutored tastings by world famous distillers, journalists and independent bottlers.
“The event was very well done,” said Scott Bush, President of Templeton Rye Whiskey. “We poured for hundreds of people and it was very interesting to hear their feedback.”
The Whiskiess of the World Event marked the formal introduction of Templeton Rye, the prohibition era rye whiskey that was once the lynchpin of the Capone bootlegging empire, to the public.
“We received tremendous response,” said Bush, “This was really the first time anyone had tried the product outside of our company so we were anxious for some feedback. I think it is fair to say that we were the surprise of the show.”
American Rye Whiskeys were scarce at the event with only four available for tasting. “Whiskey lovers were very excited to see a new rye because the category is so thin and ryes typically have terrific character,” said Bush. “Of course, people were very interested in our story and that we use the original prohibition era recipe as well. There were actually a few people who knew of Templeton Rye.”
